The toothpaste manufacturers have been aggressively marketing their respective products with a claim that they are the best teeth whitening solutions. Thanks to the extensive marketing of these products that people nowadays have become more sensitive towards the concept of “pearl white teeth for infectious smile”. More and more people are enticed to try the teeth whitening options available in the market, apart from toothpastes. One such option prevalent is the teeth whitening surgical operation. If you want to know more about this, read on.
The duration of teeth whitening surgical operation doesn’t go beyond an hour. The operation involves bleaching and other steps to regain the color of your teeth, which may have been discoloured due to age, smoking, or tobacco. Your dentist will inform you whether other steps will be carried on before the bleaching process is started. Generally, dentists do the clean up process before the use of bleaching technique. He may take around fifteen minutes to clean up.
This may be followed be the bleaching process and other procedures associated with it, which may take hardly forty-five minutes.
The operation involves the application of laser light to the teeth. Before applying laser light, the dentist will apply a hydrogen peroxide gel crushed with a light impact to allow oxygen to penetrate your enamel. You should know that this gel wouldn’t affect the anatomical structure of your teeth. It works only on the discoloured part of your teeth.
The whole process is carried on in a comfortable way. It is no more a painful thing. Dentists nowadays encourage their patients to concentrate on other things such as watching television or listening to music until the bleaching surgical operation is over.
However, you should also know that there are some side effects related to the teeth whitening process. The small amount of heat generated by the laser light may slightly hurt the enamel. Modest tickling and sensitiveness are also found in many patients. Therefore, we suggest you to use anti-sensitivity toothpaste prior to the treatment.
All that being said, we are sure you would like to try the surgical option. However, we conclude that this is just one of the options and that you should never forget to take the first precautionary measures- flossing and brushing the teeth twice a day- to keep your teeth healthy and maintain the infectious smile forever!
