Though it is a little bit away from the mainstream dentistry, cosmetic dentistry has gained popularity. It is a booming biz. The credit goes to the recent advancements in the field of dentistry.
A poll was conducted by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry according to which, almost 99.7% of those who acquired cosmetic surgery felt a good smile. It proved to be an important social asset for them.
Previously, dental fillings were
composed of gold, amalgam and other materials. This often left ugly dark spots on the teeth. But today, dental filling has fallen into the category of cosmetic dentistry, which has increased the options of materials for dental fillings. Now, people who want to fill their decayed teeth with filling made up of porcelain or composite materials that resemble the color of their teeth. This in turn, helps them to maintain the natural appearance of the teeth and wear a smile that is not artificial.
Smile makeovers and full mouth reconstruction are the current trends in cosmetic dentistry.
