In the first part of this two-part series, we read about anatomy of the shirt collar and front side of the shirt. In this second and last part, we will be reading about anatomy in context to back side of the shirt.

Back side of shirt:

Back collar height is the collar part folded over while the hang loop is the piece of fabric sewn into the yoke seam facilitating the shirt to be hanged. Yoke is a shaped fabric piece fitted below or about the shoulders and neck and could be split in two. Side pleats can be termed as the single fabric folding at remaining parts of the backside of shirt. Darts is a tapered fabric seam to adjust the garment fit while Hem is the completed dress shirt body’s lower edge. Tail is the shirt part below the waistline and sleeve is the garment part covering the arms and usually measuring between 32-36 inches. The box pleat front can be described as the double fabric fold characterized by folded material under each side at the shirt’s back center.

By emphasizing upon the right shirt anatomy, you can surely make a unique and impressive style statement besides evoking the attention of one and all. It is worthwhile to note here that this anatomy is flexible as per the occasion and can always be altered as per your specifications or suggestions by the tailor. After all, each one of us has a distinct style and we are best when boasting of a different style.
